About Course

This course equips participants with the skills and knowledge to provide Kindergarten Care (KCare) at MOE-appointed Centres. KCare is a care service offering meals and a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities, encouraging play, exploration, and discovery for children aged five and six. Learners will gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience in effectively managing children through a practicum at KCare Centres.

 

Note: This course will be conducted via online learning until further notice.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand children's holistic development, developmental characteristics and how children learn and develop.

  • Appreciate the importance of play and organise the environment for play.

  • Value playing and interacting with children as one of the key roles of a KCare Programme Staff.

  • Understand how to oversee and guide children under their care.

Entry Requirements

Participants with the following qualifications, and intending to be programme staff at KCare run by SCC operators:  

 

  • WSQ Student Care Programme*; OR

  • Introduction To Student And Youth Care*; OR

  • Diploma in Care and Programme (Student Service & Coaching)*; OR

  • Boxhill WSQ SC in Community & Social Services (Student Care) with working experience at the SCC for 3 continuous years within the past 10 years AND

  • English Language proficiency at O-Level (at least C6) or Workplace Literacy Series (WPL) (SOA 6; Reading, Listening, Speaking & Writing).

 

*Courses offered by Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

 

Note: In addition to the above qualifications, participants must be employed in a KCare centre. There will be a 20-hour practicum for the course in KCare and as such a current Letter of Employment will be required along with course application.

Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC).

    • WSQ Student Care Programme* which covers Support the Development of Children 7-14 Years Old AND Respond To Illness, Accidents & Emergencies; OR

    • Introduction To Student And Youth Care* which covers Emergency Response and Crisis Management AND Support Service to Children and Youths; OR
    • Diploma in Care and Programme (Student Service & Coaching) offered by Ngee Ann Polytechnic; OR

    • Boxhill WSQ SC in Community & Social Services (Student Care) with working experience at the SCC for 3 continuous years within the past 10 years AND

  1. Language requirements:
    • English Language proficiency at O-Level (at least C6) or Workplace Literacy Series (WPL) (SOA 6; Reading, Listening, Speaking & Writing)
