Outdoor Experiences for Infants
and Toddlers
About Course
Make outdoors an integral part of the early experiences for infants and toddlers. In this 2-day course, you will gain knowledge and confidence in facilitating purposeful and enjoyable outdoor experiences. Find out how you can tap on natural and made-made spaces within the immediate environment of your infant care facility.
From playgrounds to community spaces, you can explore art, music, and more with the little ones anywhere. You will also learn to conduct benefit-risk assessment and explore risk management strategies, based on potential hazards and risks.
Note: In-person lessons for this course will resume for the upcoming intakes. This is subject to prevailing COVID-19 measures implemented by the government. Should there be any changes, students will be notified at least 1 week to the commencement of the respective intakes.
Learning Outcomes
Learners will be equipped with the knowledge and skills in the following:

Design and facilitate meaningful outdoor learning activities for infants and toddlers (birth to 2).

Develop strategies of getting infants and toddlers outdoors and learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Develop confidence in educarers’ immediate vicinity to plan, enhance and extend learning experiences.
Entry Requirements
This course is for individuals who are ECDA-certified as EY1/EY2 educarers.
Course Assessment Requirements
Applicants are required to observe and implement an activity with a child/small group of children. Should you have concerns about meeting this assessment requirement due to school holidays, you may consider alternative intakes that do not fall within the holiday period.
Upon Completion
Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).
