Director’s Message

As the organisation stepped into its third year of operations in FY2021, NIEC, as the leading training institute for early childhood educators, continued to shape and lead the sector with its initiatives.

NIEC remains committed and focused to continually deliver the best possible learning experience to early childhood educators. Medium-term directions identified earlier were reviewed and prioritised for mapping of initiatives and work plans. Following the NIEC Board Strategic Planning Meeting in September 2020 and Management’s discussion in October 2020, a list of comprehensive initiatives and work plans were identified for uplifting the early childhood sector manpower through in-service professional course offerings and building NIEC’s organisational expertise and capabilities.

Medium-term directions rolled out for implementation in FY2021

Uplifting the early childhood sector manpower through in-service professional course offerings

Building NIEC’s organisational expertise and capabilities

These directions are aligned with the strategic objectives in NIEC’s strategy map which encapsulates our four strategic thrusts to Deliver Quality Courses, Partner Customers and Stakeholders, Build our People, and Strengthen Critical Enablers.

We deliver quality courses as the national training institute for early childhood educators. To this end, we strive to ensure our courses are of high quality with practice-oriented learning and practicums, and delivered by highly qualified staff to meet different learner profiles.

We effectively partner and work closely with customers and stakeholders,
including our students, industry operators, potential trainees, ECDA, MOE and NIE, among others, for synergistic outcomes.

We build our core - the people who make up NIEC. We continue to develop staff capabilities and expertise, and provide the necessary resources to meet operational needs.

We strengthen critical enablers through robust academic and quality assurance policies, efficient corporate systems & processes, and an organisational excellence framework, to ensure organisational health and efficacy.
