Dr Ginia Ng Sok Hoon, Lead Senior Curriculum Specialist at NIEC, was featured in an 8world Hello Singapore interview where she discussed the critical role of early childhood educators in identifying and responding to signs of child abuse. During the interview, Dr Ng highlighted the comprehensive training provided to educators at NIEC, which includes in-depth coverage of child abuse awareness and prevention.
 
Dr Ng explained how teachers are trained to spot potential signs of abuse, such as unusual marks or symptoms during routine health checks at preschool. She stressed the importance of early detection and how educators are equipped to immediately report concerns to the relevant authorities, ensuring timely intervention. Additionally, she shared the protocols in place for handling suspected cases, including discussions among staff, referral to supervisors, and further escalation to agencies like the Early Childhood Development Agency if needed.
