This article is sponsored by MOE Kindergarten. It features NIEC’s alumni, Mr Hee Ching Long on his journey transitioning from an assistant vice-president in a bank to a preschool teacher. He attended NIEC’s early childhood diploma and conversion programme for mid-careerists before officially teaching at MK. In the article, he shares the challenges of adapting to preschool teaching, emphasising the importance of understanding children’s emotions, and building strong relationships with parents. Mr Hee also shared how both MK and his mentor have been instrumental in developing his professional and personal growth. This was achieved through MK’s in-house mandatory and elective training courses, as well as his mentor helping him to find meaning in his work.
