不守“规矩”的孩童不该带出门?社会何时能学会放慢脚步?

[Translation: Should “misbehaving” children stay home? When will society learn to slow down?]

NIEC (NP) Programme Head Corinne Fan was featured in a panel discussion on Channel 8’s Talk of the Town segment. The segment discussed common misbehaviours seen in children and discusses societal perspectives on such children and their parents. A follow-up article was released on Mediacorp 8World.

Corinne shared that behaviours often perceived as “misbehaviours” — such as crying on a flight, touching objects in public, or running around — can actually be part of a child’s natural developmental process and exploration of the world. She highlighted the importance of understanding children’s development stages so that parents and teachers can better guide and support them appropriately. Corinne also noted that children learn to communicate and grow holistically through social interactions and placing expectations on children to “”behave”” could hinder their natural curiosity of the world and their development.

In the second half of the segment, other panellists spoke on inclusivity for children with special needs.
