About Course

Building a strong relationship and partnership with families of young children is important. This course will provide educators with an overview of the varying types and models of parent-teacher relationships in the early years and identify the complexities of today’s families. Practical strategies and effective communication styles will be introduced to help educators develop their skills toward building a strong parent-teacher partnership.

 

Note: This course will be conducted via online learning.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • demonstrate respect for families in an inclusive preschool setting, with various cultural values and parenting styles;
  • work in partnership with families for a common goal, i.e., their children’s learning and development;
  • adopt positive and effective communication styles in daily work with families to build strong relationships and partnerships; and
  • identify community services and resources available for families in need.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma in early childhood care and education.
  • Be ECDA-certified as an EY1/EY2/L1/L2 teacher.
  • Currently employed in a childcare centre registered or licensed with ECDA.
