Leadership Series: A Journey Towards Curriculum Leadership (JCLP)
About Course
This course will create the opportunity for pre-school leaders to reflect on teaching and learning practices related to the ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’ in curriculum and curriculum leadership. Through deepening participants’ understanding of curriculum, participants can provide the thought leadership in the area of teaching and learning in their centres, especially in the aspect of knowing how to effectively translate the principles and goals in the NEL Framework into their centres’ practices. At the same time, learner will be better able to appreciate the scope and importance of their role as curriculum leaders. This would be done through sharing and reflection sessions on where they are on their curriculum leadership journey and what more they can do in building the capability of their teachers as curriculum designers and implementors.
Note: This course will be conducted face-to-face.
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- reflect on practices relating to the ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’ of curriculum and curriculum leadership as theories, trends and good practices are shared;
- deepen their understanding of the 3 aspects of curriculum: espoused, enacted and experienced and how each aspect when systematically considered will enhance the quality of teaching and learning of the children;
- delve deeper into the key aspects of NEL Framework 2022 (e.g., belief, foregrounding of values, social and emotional competencies, learning dispositions and iTeach principles) and experience how to design learning activities to incorporate these key aspects that are developmentally appropriate and meaningful for children; and
