[NEW] Leadership Series: The Pillars of Leadership (POLP)

About Course

This course will provide leaders in the early childhood centres (lead to centre leader roles) with a definition for leadership and the key areas that leaders should focus on.  It provides the learners with a knowledge of core theories underpinning leadership and also equips them with an understanding of the key elements essential for effective centre leadership.  It discusses the importance of building quality relationships and examines areas critical for the building of capacity within an organisation.​

This course serves as a pre-requisite course to other Leadership Series courses.

 

 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • ​agree on a definition for leadership;
  • ​explain the key areas that leaders should focus on;
  • ​discuss the importance of building quality relationships;
  • ​establish some personality traits and beliefs systems that affect the way leaders lead and motivate;
  • ​examine how values impact decision-making;
  • ​discuss the concept of capacity building;
  • ​enact some practices that will help build the capacity for learning; and
  • ​practise the art of listening.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma in early childhood care and education.
  • Be ECDA-certified as an L2 teacher.
  • Currently employed in a childcare centre registered or licensed with ECDA.
