Shaping Practices for Diverse Learners

About Course

In this course, learners will be introduced to the Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Learners will gain insights into applying the principles including multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression to design classroom environment setups and learning plans. Communication strategies and different types of feedback will be covered too.

During the course, learners will learn to write an action plan based on UDL and implement it in their teaching practices. Learners will evaluate and reflect on the key factors influencing positive classroom dynamics and engagement among children with different learning abilities.

Note: This course will be conducted via face-to-face.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • use data to analyse and reflect-on-action, teaching & learning practices;
  • apply knowledge of diverse learning abilities in children for a developmentally appropriate lesson design and classroom setup;
  • apply Universal Design for Learning principles for lesson design, classroom setup and teaching & learning;
  • use communication strategies and feedback for interactions to support learning;
  • engage in introspective process for improvement and change; and
  • engage with relevant stakeholders who are part the teaching & learning eco-system in the Centre.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma in early childhood care and education.
  • Be ECDA-certified as an L2 teacher.
  • Prioritised for preschool educators in the Professional Development Programme (Educators).
  • Nominated for ​Professional Development Programme For Teachers (PDP-T).
