About Course

This continuing professional development (CPD) course enables learners to identify factors that affect emotions and behaviour in young children, evaluate common and known classroom management strategies. Learners will also be taught to apply motivational and behaviour-reinforcement techniques through the use of storytelling for effective classroom management in the early childhood setting.

Note: This course will be conducted via online learning.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify factors that affect children’s emotions and behaviour in the classroom and evaluate common classroom strategies used to address them.
  • Select appropriate children’s books with a socio-emotional aspect to be used to address emotions and behaviour in the classroom.
  • Adapt storytelling materials suitable for young children to be used for routines and transitions in the preschool context.
  • Apply storytelling skills and strategies introduced in daily teaching to facilitate good classroom management.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma in early childhood care and education.
  • Be ECDA-certified as a L2 teacher.
  • Currently employed in a childcare centre registered or licensed with ECDA.
