Mrs Kavitha Kalailakshmi d/o Rajahendran Pillai is a Lead Lecturer at NIEC (ITE) with over 22 years of experience in the early childhood sector. She holds a Master’s in Education (Early Childhood) from Nanyang Technological University and a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Australia.
Kavitha has taken on various leadership roles, including teacher, centre leader, senior centre leader, and assistant director, equipping her with expertise in communication, leadership, and administrative management. Specializing in children’s social and emotional development (SED), Kavitha has contributed to ECDA’s SED workgroup and facilitated professional development workshops, including the Preschool Seminar – Nurturing Children’s Social & Emotional Skills: Integrating UDL and Storytelling, in collaboration with Mandai Wildlife Group and NIEC. She has also developed interactive board games to support educators in self-reflection and team-building, shared through webinars and sector-wide initiatives.
Passionate about educator development, Kavitha has designed interactive board games to encourage self-reflection and team building, which have been shared through webinars and professional development initiatives. Her contributions were recognised with a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Performance in the Advanced Certificate in Technical Education Programme (2024).
Beyond work, Kavitha and her family are active volunteers, promoting community engagement and compassion. In her free time, she enjoys reading and traveling.
