Ms Shelby Reyes Hiadan holds a Master’s degree in Education (Special Education) from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (Major in Special Education) from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Ms Shelby has two years of teaching experience at a special school for children with dyslexia before moving to Singapore in 2002, where she worked as a teacher and later as Vice-Principal in a private special school. Ms Shelby specialises in the areas of Special Education, Early Intervention, and Inclusive Education. She was awarded the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Teaching Award in 2017 and the NIEC Long Service Award in 2022. She has also contributed to the collating and encoding data for the study “WebQuest: A Useful Teaching Tool to Promote Higher Order Thinking and ICT Integration in ECSE Teacher Preparation” to benefit the early childhood sector.
