More Reasons To Join The Sector

Growing Demand for Early Childhood Educators

The 24,000-strong early childhood workforce will require over 2,500 more educators by 2025.

Great Career Progression

With the right qualifications and competencies, you can go on to be in leadership positions.

Support from the Government

The Government’s annual spending on the sector has increased from $1 billion in 2018 to $1.8 billion in 2021 and is expected to double over the next few years.

Reasons to Join the Sector

Early childhood educators are in the privileged position of being a child’s first teachers during a crucial period of rapid brain growth. By nurturing young minds and teaching essential skills and values, you can help build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

The government has implemented initiatives to support the growth of the sector, creating opportunities for both career and educational progression. During the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)’s Early Childhood Celebrations 2024, Minister for Social and Family Development, Masagos Zulkifli shared that close to 40,000 new infant and childcare places will be developed from 2025 to 2029 (November 2024, ECDA). This expansion would mean you can enjoy employment opportunities and job security in the sector.

Our Courses

We conduct our early childhood courses in collaboration with Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central, Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP). This means that you get to be a student of both NIEC and your chosen ITE or Polytechnic.

Regardless of which campus you choose, you will receive the same quality training and will graduate with a certification/diploma recognised by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

What’s Life As An NIEC Student Like?

Learning isn’t just in lecture halls at NIEC, but it happens in special classrooms that stimulate real preschool environments.

You’ll get to lead microteaching sessions with peers acting as preschoolers, engage in hands-on activities that bring teaching to life…and more.
