[NEW] Practitioner Inquiry: Reflective Practice in Action
[NEW] Practitioner Inquiry: Reflective Practice in Action
About Course
This course equips early childhood professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to carry out Practitioner Inquiry (PI) within their own centres. Participants will be guided through each process of the Cycle of PI – Identify, Plan, Implement, Evaluate – and supported in identifying an issue, formulating inquiry questions and designing an actionable inquiry plan. Working collaboratively with colleagues, they will collect and interpret classroom data using developmentally appropriate tools such as observations, learning stories, and documentation. By the end of the course, participants will present their findings and propose sustainable improvements grounded in real-world classroom experiences. This course emphasises reflective thinking, ethical data use, and team-based inquiry to strengthen practice and enhance outcomes for children.
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- apply the principles of PI in the early childhood (EC) context;
- carry out the steps in the Cycle of PI;
- develop meaningful inquiry questions relevant to their practice;
- explore data collection and analysis methods suitable for the EC setting, and
- reflect on findings to inform practice and share insights.
Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).
