At the 5th Confucius Institute, Nanyang Technological University (CI-NTU) Conference on Chinese Language Teaching and Learning on Saturday, 9 November 2024, NIEC Senior Lecturer Ms Foo Wan Yueh shared valuable insights on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into preschool education.

 

Emphasising the importance of fostering children’s AI literacy from an early age, Ms Foo Wan Yueh noted that with proper guidance from educators, children are more than capable of learning about AI. She highlighted that the key to using AI in teaching lies not in the complexity of the tool itself, but in how it aligns with educational goals and enhances children’s thinking and expression.

 

The conference provided a platform for local educators to exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of AI’s role in education, with a particular focus on how it can support teaching and the development of 21st-century skills.
