Pensyarah diiktiraf bangun idea pembelajaran luar darjah walau dilanda barah [Translation: This lecturer is recognised for developing ideas on outdoor classroom learning despite being diagnosed with cancer]

NIEC was mentioned in a Berita Harian article on 3 February, spotlighting the achievements of Dr Hanin Hussain, a 56-year-old educator renowned for her dedication to early childhood education. Despite facing health challenges, Dr Hussain remains actively engaged in gardening and outdoor activities, fuelled by her profound passion for nature and outdoor learning. Her commitment to integrating outdoor experiences into education aligns with her belief in the significance of learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Dr Hussain played a pivotal role as one of the key members of the multidisciplinary External Learning Committee (OL), which she co-chaired alongside the National Institute for Early Childhood Development (NIEC) and the Agency for Early Childhood Development (ECDA) from 2018 to 2019. During her tenure, she advocated for the importance of outdoor learning in children’s holistic development.

Dr Hussain was honoured with the prestigious ‘MSF Friends Award’ for her dedicated service to the Ministry of Social and Family Development. Despite her health struggles, she remains steadfast in her commitment to early childhood education, leveraging her extensive experience as a teacher and lecturer to continue making meaningful contributions to the field.
