NIEC student Chen Xing Yu, a Year 2 student currently studying the Diploma in Early Childhood Development & Education (ECDE) at NIEC (NP), shares his experience switching fields from sports management to early childhood education.

After graduating from ITE, Xing Yu, 19, decided to pursue a diploma in early childhood education, inspired by a meaningful volunteering experience that ignited his passion for working with children. His studies have since given him hands-on experience in the sector, reinforcing his decision to build a career as an early childhood educator.

Xing Yu shares that he acknowledges the gendered stereotypes against men in the sector and hopes to challenge them, bringing fresh perspectives and teaching approaches to the classroom.
