Mentoring 201: Bringing Out the Best in EC Educators will replace Mentoring for Professional Growth with effect from May 2021.

This course Mentoring 201: Bringing Out the Best in EC Educators builds on Mentoring 101 and focuses on equipping learners with concepts and skills to mentor beginning preschool teachers.

Learners will develop an understanding of the needs, examine and apply the strategies for supporting the beginning preschool teachers. They will deepen the mentoring relationships via different forms of professional conversation and collaboration; thereby, deepening the professional learning that such relationships enable.

Note: This course will be conducted via online learning until further notice.

 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Examine the needs of beginning preschool teachers.
  • Identify critical tasks that beginning preschool teachers must know in the early childhood setting.
  • Examine the 4Cs strategies for supporting beginning preschool teachers.
  • Apply GROW coaching model through effective questioning and probing skills.
  • Apply the 4 types of professional conversations to determine the support for the beginning preschool teachers.
  • Apply the process of classroom observations to support professional learning of beginning preschool teachers.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed the CPD course Mentoring 101: Bringing Out the Best in EC Educators or Mentoring Novice Teachers.
  • Have completed an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma in early childhood care and education.
  • Be ECDA-certified as L2 teacher (Senior Educarer, Senior Preschool Teacher, Lead Teacher, Senior Lead Teacher, Centre Leader, Senior Centre Leader).
  • Currently employed in a childcare centre registered or licensed with ECDA.
