About Course

This course is formerly known as “Certificate in Student Care Centre (Early Years) (SCC(EY))”.

This course aims to equip staff and other learners that meet the entry criteria with knowledge and skills to care for children of ages five to six years old. It provides learners with theoretical knowledge and practical experience to manage these children through attachment at KCare Centres.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • acquire knowledge and skills to care for children of ages five to six years old.
  • gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience to manage these children through attachment at KCare Centres.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • English language proficiency at O-Level (at least C6), N-level English Grade 4, IELTS (Academic) 5.5, SPM certificate (equivalent to O levels) or Workplace Literacy Series (WPL) (SOA 6; Reading Listening, Speaking & Writing,
  • Must be employed in a KCare Centre.

Note: There is a 20-hour attachment for the course in a KCare Centre, as such, a current Letter of Employment is required along with course application.

Course Schedule

Please note:

    • This 68-hour course equips you with essential skills, building up to key assessments in Sessions 6 and 7:
      Course Structure
      48 hours of instruction over 7 full-day Saturday sessions:

      • Sessions 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6: Online, providing flexibility while covering core content
      • Sessions 3 and 7: Face-to-face at NIEC City Campus for hands-on learning, with the final assessment in Session 7
      20 hours of Practicum at your KCare Centre to apply your learning in real-world setting
    • Course schedule is subject to changes. NIEC reserves the right to reschedule/cancel any programme and amend information without prior notice.
    • Classes will only commence if the minimum class size is met. A confirmation email will be sent to you at least 3 weeks before course commencement.
