[NEW] Leadership Series: The Art of Lesson Observations (ALOV)

About Course

​​This course focuses on teacher professional learning. Participants will learn how to execute a lesson observation cycle, focusing on developing teacher ownership for pedagogical improvement, and conducting of professional conversations to promote teacher reflection, problem solving, confidence building and learning.

Participants will be required to carry out a full cycle of the lesson observation, record their post-observation conversation and bring the recording back to class to discuss with their peers.

Note: This course will be conducted face-to-face.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • understand important features of a lesson observation cycle that focuses on teacher learning;
  • be able to engage the teacher in learning through a lesson observation cycle;
  • be able to develop an observation template together with the teacher; and
  • be able to conduct an observation cycle and engage the teacher in learning through pre- and post-observation conversation.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma in early childhood care and education.
  • Be ECDA-certified as an L2 teacher.
  • Currently employed in a childcare centre registered or licensed with ECDA.
  • Have completed The Pillars of Leadership or Leadership Series: The Pillars of Leadership (POLP)
