【看见主播 |王征】一问三不知?跟孩子聊学校生活
[Translation: (Presenter Insights | Wang Zheng) Clueless on Every Question? Getting Kids to Open]

As part of CBD’s media engagement efforts, 8world is featuring NIEC faculty in a five-part video series that offers parents tips on supporting their child’s transition to primary school. New episodes will be released every Wednesday.

In the fourth episode, aired on 9 April 2025, Ms Corrine Madelyn Wai Foong Fan, Programme Head at NIEC (NP), shared strategies on how parents can encourage their children to talk about their school experiences. She highlighted common reasons why children may be reluctant to share, such as fatigue or feeling overwhelmed by questions. Ms Fan advised parents to create a relaxed and pressure-free environment for conversations, suggesting open-ended prompts instead of direct questioning. She also recommended using play or shared activities, like drawing or storytelling, as indirect ways to encourage children to express themselves. Additionally, Ms Fan emphasised the importance of active listening and responding with empathy to build trust and strengthen communication.
