This course is conducted by NIEC in collaboration with the Institute of Technical Education at the NIEC (ITE) campus, and recognised by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

Graduating O-level student

  • O-level English (EL) Grades 1 – 6

  • Any other 2 O-level subjects Grades 1 – 7*

Graduating Nitec student

  • Nitec cGPA of at least 2.8

  • Any one of the below:

*To be eligible for selection, you must have sat for Mathematics (Elementary/Additional)

Upon Graduation

Higher Nitec in Early Childhood Education is awarded by the National Institute of Early Childhood Development in collaboration with ITE. Upon successful completion of the course, graduates will be eligible for L1 certification by ECDA and can be deployed to teach pre-nursery and nursery children from 18 months to 4 years old or assist in K1 and K2 Levels.

 

Higher Nitec in Early Childhood Education with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.

The standards of ethical behaviour in early childhood care and education are based on the commitment to core values in maintaining harmony with Singapore’s multi-racial society and nation-building. Early childhood educators have to fulfill their professional responsibilities and obligations towards the children, families, community, colleagues, and staff.

Medical Requirement

 

Applicants applying for Higher Nitec in Early Childhood Education (V42) have to pass a pre-admission medical examination to enter the course. More details on the medical requirements can be found at http://bit.ly/NIECMedical

Other Requirements

Successful students will be required to purchase a laptop, which will cost about $500 - $1,500 for the 2-year course. This is in addition to the course fees. Financial assistance is available for eligible students, subject to terms and conditions.
