Outdoors as the Extended Classroom
for 5 and 6-Year-Olds
About Course
Design and facilitate stimulating outdoor experiences for children aged 5 and 6 years old to play, explore and discover. In this 2-day course, you will learn how pedagogy planning can contribute to each child’s learning and development beyond the classroom.
You will be involved in different activities for children in diverse outdoor contexts, from physical play to imaginative storytelling. You will also better understand the guiding principles, theoretical perspectives, and practical knowledge to enhance children’s learning and development in the outdoors.
To build your confidence in navigating nature’s playground, the course will guide you in conducting risk-benefit assessment, so you can develop a safe and supportive outdoor environment for the children.
Note: In-person lessons for this course will resume for the upcoming intakes. This is subject to prevailing COVID-19 measures implemented by the government. Should there be any changes, students will be notified at least 1 week to the commencement of the respective intakes.
